European Capital of Culture 2009 - Vilnius


Vilnius is the capital of Lithuania. The Baltic country has a very rich and interesting history. In medieval Europe, was even one of the major European powers-at the time of Union with Poland, in the state known as a whole Rzeczpospolita. Vilnius is the city, of that breathe history and visitors surprises unprecedented amount of churches and the churches. Vilnius has about half a million people, while almost 10% are students. It is a young city, full of life and cultural events.
